The Michigan Wolverines will face Eastern Michigan tonight at 9 PM (EST). The #22 Wolverines defeated Indiana Purdue Fort-Wayne on Monday 75-56. The Mastodons could not stop star Center Hunter Dickinson; the Preseason All-B1G First Teamer went 9/11 from the field with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Eastern Michigan beat Wayne State 75-66. The game was not as close as the final score indicates; the Eagles were winning soundly throughout the game until the very end. Orlando Lovejoy led the Eagles in points with 18 on 6/10 shooting. Eastern Michigan was otherwise unimpressive—Wayne State managed to pull in 5 more rebounds than the Eagles.
The Wolverines only return 1 starter from last year, but it didn’t seem to be an issue against IPFW. It was apparent that they lacked some chemistry, but that should improve as the season progresses. Eastern Michigan also has only one returning starter which is a good thing for Michigan—I wouldn’t be too surprised if an experienced team knocks of the Wolverines early in the season.
Michigan should win this one, and it’s not going to be close. The Eagles are too inexperienced to mount a threat to Michigan. Look for this game to be a blowout.
Final Score Prediction: 80-54 Michigan
The Spread: -17.5 Michigan
The Pick: Go with Michigan. Eastern Michigan isn’t going to be very competitive in this one, especially after only beating Division 2 team by 9 points.
