Theis is coming over from Germany’s Bundesliga

According to David Pick (European Woj) the Boston Celtics will sign Daniel Theis

Theis is a 6’9’’, 25 year old forward/center from Germany. He’s been a professional since 2011 and has played with Lowen Braunschweig, Ratiopharm Ulm and Brose Baskets in the German Basketball Bundesliga. In 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 he was a German BBL All-Star Starter and was named the Defensive Player of the Year in 2016-17. He was also named the Best National Player in the BBL in 2015-2016.

Theis was an Early Entry candidate in the 2013 NBA Draft, but went undrafted.

Theis also played with the German National Team in 2014 and 2016 in EuroBasket qualifiers. His lone NBA experience was five Summer League games with the Washington Wizards in 2014.

Theis projects as a backup big man in the NBA. He’s an athletic and somewhat rugged forward/center who can block some shots and rebound. His offensive game is fairly limited, as he takes most of his shots inside the paint, with the occasional
